Call for Nominations

International Glycoconjugate Organization Award 2009

The International Glycoconjugate Organization (IGO) is accepting nominations of glycoscientists who have clearly advanced the field of glycoscience and show promise of continuing advancements. The award (US$4,000) will be presented at the XX International Symposium on Glycoconjugates (GLYCO XX) scheduled in San Juan, Puerto Rico, November 29–December 4, 2009. The awardee will present his/her accomplishments at GLYCO XX. Travel expenses up to US$1,500 will be provided. Nominations should preferably be submitted as a single PDF file electronically (or alternatively as 6 hard copies) and should include the curriculum vitae with bibliography and supporting letter summarizing in detail the accomplishments of the nominee. Institutional or self-nominations will not be accepted.

Nominations must be submitted by May 15, 2009 to:

Eighth Carbohydrate Bioengineering Meeting (CBM8)

May 10–13, 2009, Hotel Continental Terme, Ischia, Naples, Italy

The Carbohydrate Bioengineering Meeting (CBM) series, an initiative started in 1995 in Elsinor (Denmark) and fostered in themeetingsinLaRochelle,Newcastle,Stockholm,Groningen, Barcelona, and Braunschweig (2007), is now a consolidated biennial interdisciplinary forum in glycosciences. The last meetings hosted more than 250 scientists from university, hospital and industry research centers. In this tradition, the organizing committee is pleased to announce CBM8 in Ischia near Naples, an historical city with world known institutions active in life science. The meeting aims to show state-of-the-art of research on basic and applied aspects of carbohydrate bioengineering and to stimulate the active exchange of scientific information between researchers from academia and industry.

The Organizing Committee of CBM8 is confident that the natural and historical interest of Ischia will be a superb complement to a stimulating scientific program and will attract many researchers from all over the world to enjoy the Mediterranean climate, the history, and the culture of this ancient multiethnic civilization.

CBM8 is organized by the Institute of Protein Biochemistry of the Italian National Research Council under the auspices of the Section of Applied Biocatalysis of the European Federation of Biotechnology (ESAB). The local Organizing Committee, in the tradition of the CBM, is joined by an International Program Committee.

For further information (scientific program, list of keynote speakers, registration etc.) please visit the meeting web site at http://www.cbm8.org, or contact the meeting chair:
