Viruses and Glycans: First International Meeting on Glycovirology

Department of Clinical Virology, Institute of Laboratory Medicine, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Göteborg, Sweden June 15–19, 2003

Carbohydrate-protein interactions constitute an important part of most invasion strategies of pathogenic microorganisms from all phyla, including viruses. The meeting will cover all aspects of glycovirology including virus-receptor interactions, the roles of glycans in viral glycoprotein maturation and function, glycans and the glycosylation process as targets for intervention, viral regulation of glycosyltransferase gene expression and its biological implications, and vaccines and the role of glycans in viral immune escape.
