Abstract

In typing the manuscript, a short remark in the middle of a sentence was mistakenly deleted, changing completely the correct meaning of a citation. The mistake was not realized until the paper was published.

On page 513 of the published paper the sentence on the left side paragraph that reads: "The molecular configuration of a glycoprotein, such that the oligosaccharide is not readily accessible to external ligands, was suggested by Parodi (1994) to explain the inability of glucosylation of untreated thyroglobulin as opposed to the denatured molecule (Trombetta et al., 1989)" should read: "The molecular configuration of a glycoprotein such that the oligosaccharide is not readily accessible to external ligands, was suggested AND REFUTED LATER by Parodi (1994) to explain the inability of glucosylation of untreated thyroglobulin as opposed to the denatured molecule (Trombetta et al., 1989)."

The authors regret the error.
